Charlie McVeigh’s The Draft House concept is set to cross the river Thames having secured a fifth site in Fitzrovia, on the corner of Charlotte Street and Goodge Street.

The former Northumberland Arms will open as The Draft House Charlotte in August, offering a variety of cask and keg beers along with Draft House classics including foot-long scratchings and hamburger specials the yolk, the smoke and the poke.

McVeigh, who has previously revealed aspirations to have 10 pubs to his name, said: “We have been working on this site since June of last year so there was some relief when we nailed it before the anniversary.

“At times the negotiations felt like the making of Apocalypse Now but we’re in now and very excited. There’s going to be a bigger emphasis on cask ale with beers from all our buddies at Camden, Kernel, Windsor & Eton and Sambrook’s - this tiny site will be a pocket-sized expression of London’s exploding beer and  food culture.”

The Draft House has continued to expand since its inception in 2007. Other pubs are located at Tower Bridge, Battersea Bridge Road, Northcote Road in Clapham and Lordship Lane in East Dulwich.
