The British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) has announced Punch Taverns has become the first pub company to back its National Licensed Hospitality Industry Apprenticeship Summit in June to promote employing apprentices in the pub industry.

The summit on June 26 at the Sketchley Grange Hotel in the Midlands has been created with the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR) and the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA). It is designed to promote the BII Apprenticeship in Licensed Hospitality and spotlight how it can train, support and establish professional careers in the pub trade.

Punch Taverns has become the first pub company to back the summit although others are expected to follow suit.

The BII Chief Executive Peter Thomas will open the summit which it is hoped will be attended by licensees, pub companies, training providers and young people looking for a career in the industry. The top lineup of speakers will include representatives from Stonegate Pub Company, JD Wetherspoon, and Charnwood Training.
