YO! Sushi is set to launch in the US this summer under a franchise deal
YO! Sushi is to open its first US restaurant this summer at Union Station in Washington DC.

The site will open through a franchise deal with Richard Pawlowski, operator of 36 casual-dining concepts in the US under the Cosi, Qdoba Mexican and Bugaboo Creek steakhouse brands and Darren Wightman, a former executive chef at YO! Sushi in the UK.

Alison Vickers, YO! Sushi’s business development director, said: “Breaking into the US market is the natural next step for the business as we expand our international presence.

"The Washington restaurant is the first of many as we are in discussions with several experienced multi-unit franchisees in casual dining to take us to other large metropolitan areas including Chicago, Boston and Miami.”

Pawlowski and Wightman have already signed a deal to open 10 YO! Sushi's in the UK with two of them expected to open by the end of 2012.

YO! Sushi opened its first site outside the UK in Dubai in 2003 and now has 12 restaurants overseas under franchise.
