Experienced commercial appliance manufacture Smeg Food Service solutions has launched its range of warewashers in the UK adding to its trade portfolio of products that includes cooking equipment.

The Italian manufacturer is best known in the UK for its range of domestic products but Smeg Foodservice Solutions has been supplying to the hospitality industry in European markets including Italy, France and Germany for a number of years.

Smeg cooking equipment has been on sale to trade in the UK for ten years via catering suppliers RH Hall but this will be the first time its range of warewashing equipment including pass through washers, dishwashers and glass washers will be available here.

The entire range is being supplied exclusively by London-based Nelson Dish and Glasswashing Machines.

Design and reliability

The Smeg name is synonymous with design but the manufacturer says it is more than design features that have helped its reputation grow with the foodservice trade in Europe.

"Not only does the range of equipment offer streamlined, eye catching design at an affordable price, but it also delivers consistent reliability and performance thanks to the high specification achieved through substantial investment in technological innovation and design," Smeg Foodservice Solutions said.

The warewashing products from Smeg Foodservice Solutions are split into two ranges all with the same core elements - the Greenline range which focuses on technical performance with energy saving features and the Topline range which is centred on value for money, safety, reliability and efficiency.

All the products in both ranges feature technological developments including a digital display and countdown timer, 6-7 wash programmes and acoustic and thermal insulation to reduce noise and energy consumption. Selected models also contain a heat recovery exchanger which reduces energy consumption by around 40 per cent by using wastewater to heat cold water.

The range can help water conservation and are easy to clean while the pass through models can, the manufacturer says, wash 1,700 plates an hour.

Artisan baker

Among the wide range of cooking equipment Smeg Foodservice Solutions also manufacture is the new ALFA150 electronic oven in a stainless steel design which is lined with refractory stone. The manufacturer says the oven combines modern design with traditional cooking methods and is specifically designed for artisan baking.
