Meantime off-licence at Greenwich Union
Meantime Brewing Company’s Greenwich pub The Greenwich Union is hoping to reach a wider customer base by opening a beer shop within the pub.

The Bottle Shop will now sell 50 different types of beer, including Meantime’s eight-strong bottled beer range from its shop.

Manager Daniel Persson said a trial, which started in early May, had been a success, so it would now be a permanent fixture.

“Given the number of our customers asking where they could get our beers to enjoy at home, a bottle shop seemed an obvious step for us,” he said.

The pub, the first that Meantime opened, has also trained its staff to educate customers about craft beers and about food and beer matching.

“We believe that if we can help our customers and the general public learn more about craft brewing, as well as about our beers, we are creating a market for the category as a whole and that can only be a good thing,” said Meantime chief executive Nick Miller.
