The Don restaurant and bistro in the City of London has been declared the winner of the Enotria Best Wine Display competition for presenting a simple yet creative way of promoting its wines in-house.

Run by Enotria and BigHospitality, the competition was designed to generate some buzz around the wine category after research showed that the presentation of wine has a huge influence on how much diners spend on it.

The winning entry was of a sign (pictured) drawn by The Don's assistant manager Baptiste Bernard to advertise an event for the restaurant's wine club.

Entries were judged by a team at Enotria and the restaurant and commercial catering design company Catering Design Group before they chose their winner.

"The judges felt it presented wine in a really captivating and creative way, and proves that a strong visual sense doesn't need a huge marketing budget to make it effective," said Enotria communications manager Ben Smith.

Bernard wins a trip for two to Champagne Jacquart this autumn.
