With just 30 covers, Michelangelo’s is the brainchild of the hotel’s chief executive Conor O’Donovan, serving central and southern Italian dishes within the atmosphere of a trattoria.
“I’ve planned to open this restaurant since taking over The Blenheim Lakeside 12 months ago and in that time, we’ve done a lot of market research,” explained O’Donovan. “We discovered that there was a real need for a new and authentic Italian restaurant in this part of the city and we couldn’t ask for a better location.
“We have the advantage of being in a really nice setting and we’ve now sourced the best chefs around to offer a truly desirable offering.”
The menu at Michelangelo’s features nearly a dozen antipasti options including arancini (fried risotto balls stuffed with tomato, peas and mozzarella cheese) and spiedinidi gamberi (king prawns served on crustada bread with white wine and chill garlic sauce).
Mains include classics such as lasagne al forno, pollo piri and risotto verde, as well as a varied selection of pizzas and vegetarian dishes. The restaurant will also serve locally sourced prime cuts of beef on a hot stone, which continues to cook once it is presented to the dinner table.
