Ingliston Hotels, a division of hotel management company Chardon Trading, has gained approval from Edinburgh City Council to build a £15m hotel at Edinburgh Airport.

The 125-bedroom hotel is expected to be operated by Chardon Management under franchise and will be located near the Quality Hotel Edinburgh Airport, also operated by Chardon. It is not yet known when building will start or when the hotel is scheduled to open.

Chief executive Maurice Taylor said: “We are delighted to secure planning approval for this exciting new hotel, which expresses our confidence in the future of the hospitality sector in Edinburgh and our determination to continue to commit to significant investment in growth, despite the challenging economic climate within which we all operate."

Chardon Management currently manages 35 hotels and seven health and fitness clubs in the UK on behalf of a number of hotel brands such as Indigo, InterContinental Hotels Gropu and Holiday Inn.
