Marco Pierre White pub sold to Cirrus Inns
The Yew Tree was used by White as the location for his 2008 TV series, Marco’s Great British Feast. The pub was sold by Dafis coffer Lyons, which sought freehold offers in excess of £1.65m for the 17th Century Berkshire property.
“This is an excellent addition to Cirrus’s portfolio, and they have some great plans to modernise the premises,” said Paul Tallentyre, director of pubs at Davis Coffer Lyons. “It is very pleasing to see that large freehold pubs in areas outside of London are still very much sought-after despite the current market conditions.”
Former Michelin-starred chef White spoke to BigHospitality in an exclusive audio interview on his recent Channel 5 TV show Kitchen Wars, which he said supports the restaurant sector by helping independent restaurateurs and encouraging employment in the industry.
Cirrus Inns was set up late last year with plans to create an estate of pubs with accommodation across the UK countryside. The group, which is backed by private investors, is looking to acquire, develop and operate freehold pubs with rooms and plans to grow an estate of between 40 to 50 sites over the next five years.
