Bloc Hotels, the boutique budget hotel operator which opened its first property in Birmingham last year, has secured a second site at Gatwick Airport.

The 245-bedroom hotel will be developed on the site of an existing office building at the top of the airport’s South Terminal. It will open in autumn 2013, featuring runway views, design-led rooms and free Wi-Fi throughout.

“This is a great opportunity for Bloc hotels to increase their exposure to the UK market and grow their brand,” said Will Duffey, senior vice president of Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels, who announced the deal on behalf of Gatwick Airport Limited.

“The opportunity received interest from a number of investors and hotel operators across the globe wanting to gain representation at Gatwick Airport.”

The hotel company is also said to have ‘more exciting projects in the pipeline. Watch this space.
