Brakes has created a new meal - braised beef chunks in red wine sauce - to give caterers an alternative to turkey to offer diners
Food producer and distributor Brakes has launched a braised beef cheeks frozen meal it says offers caterers planning their Christmas menus a good alternative to the traditional turkey.

Product details:

Brakes braised beef cheeks in red wine sauce is a new addition to the Brakes 'Prime Meats Christmas 2012' range and features two tender pieces of slow braised beef cheek in a rich red wine sauce.

As well as various cuts of turkey, many boneless, the Brakes meat, poultry and fish ranges also include venison haunch steaks, chicken jambonettes, whole goose and beef rump joints, cod wrapped in smoked salmon with herb butter and yellow fin sole with smoked salmon mousse and white wine sauce.

USP:

Brakes expects the new braised beef cheeks to be popular this year as an unusual alternative main to turkey or other traditional cuts of beef.

Price:

Price will differ depending on the size and type of the order - for this product and the entire Brakes Christmas range caterers are advised to contact their usual sales contact or alternatively call Brakes direct on 0844 800 4900.

Availability:

The braised beef chunks dish is supplied frozen in a minimum order of a pack of eight 350g meals.

Why you should buy it:

James Armitage, Brakes Group marketing director, said: “While turkey remains in high demand at Christmas, many customers will eat out of home on multiple occasions over the festive period and not everyone is a fan of turkey so operators need to ensure that they offer interesting and exciting alternative menu options."

“New braised beef cheeks in a rich red wine sauce will work well on menus throughout the year and have been introduced as part of the Brakes Christmas range to satisfy customer demand for easy to prepare alternative options, and are expected to be very popular as operators look to diversify.”

Extras:

As well as the range of main meals and cuts of meat and fish, Brakes Christmas products for 2012 include vegetarian options such as a vegetarian turkey style roast with Wensleydale, cranberry and orange centre.

The range also includes accompaniments, desserts, a new miniature dessert selection and cheese boards.
