ECats is a brand new competition launched by William Reed Business Media in partnership with the Craft Guild of Chefs (CGC), which saw four teams from private event caterers competing in the final held in the Show's Competition Theatre earlier today (8 October).
The teams were given an event brief by way of a commercial pitch presentation and asked to show their creative and operational solution to a judging panel of leading industry figures within a time limit.
"It was a fiercely fought competition," said BBC Radio's Nigel Barden, who announced the results. "Richmond Caterers did a great job right across the board with the pitch, the presentation and the explanation.
"It's great that the ECats gives a real prestigious element to private event catering, hopefully this competition will just Chet bigger and bigger as the years go on."
The four finalists were:-
- Richmond Creative Event Catering (gold)
- Sodexo Prestige (joint silver)
- Fish Face Event Catering (bronze)
- Purple Grape Catering (joint silver)
