Rock Wimbourne opened on the site of the former Indis restaurant in West Street last Thursday (18 October) with Victor Ferreira as head chef and Dan Hancock as general manager.
The Dorset bar and dining room, which will serve seasonal and locally-sourced food within a relaxed setting, is one of four planned to open under the brand in the south of England in the next 12 months.
Rock Restaurants, the brainchild of former Chewton Glen chef Nick Atkins and business partners Jonny Townsend and Jeremy Brown, announced plans to expand from its first site in Raynes Park earlier this month after receiving investment from CLG’s managing director Chris Holleyoak.
Atkins said he hoped the second venture would appeal to a mixture of shoppers, office workers and local diners.
“We have found the perfect location for Rock where we can create our signature informal and friendly restaurant environment offering our unique collection of British cuisine,” he said.
“We are looking forward to delivering what we hope will fast become a highly-favoured local eating spot.”
Rock Wimbourne will be followed by Rock in Westbourne, which will open its doors for business next month. The operator is also looking to open another two restaurants in Dorset and Hampshire in the next year.
