Alan Jones, head chef, Cowley Manor
Cowley Manor has appointed Alan Jones as head chef, tasked with overseeing all menus at the country retreat.
“I could not be more excited to join Cowley Manor and return to my roots," said Jones. "Not only as I am originally from the South West but also to be back in the inspirational surroundings of a country house estate. To work with the 55 acres of land, create a vegetable and herb garden of my own and forge relationships with the local suppliers and farmers, will be a real privilege.”
Jones began his formal culinary training at City of Bristol College before joining the kitchens of some of the UK’s leading chefs. He honed his skills under Michelin-starred chef Richard Neat in 2000 alongside the opening team of Neat restaurant in London. Most recently Jones served as head chef of D&D Almeida restaurant in London for over five years. He's also credited with maintaining a Michelin star during his tenure at Lucknam Park restaurant in Bath where the restaurant won Tatler’s ‘Best out of Town’ restaurant award.
