Steve Cosgrove, head chef, Mrs Mustard
Newly-opened Durham restaurant Mrs Mustard has appointed Steve Cosgrove as its head chef.
Thirty-year-old Cosgrove, from Newcastle, has created Mrs Mustard's menu of traditional British dishes cooked with a contemporary twist as well as a range of specially blended mustards to complement them.
He joins the restaurant - which is inspired by a Durham woman who invented mustard powder in the 1720s - having held head chef positions at some of the North East’s most well-known venues. Immediately prior to joining Mrs Mustard he was recruited by Marco Pierre White as acting head chef at the Hell’s Kitchen star’s Birmingham restaurant before quickly being promoted to head chef.
“We’re fortunate in the North East in having superb quality meat, fish and dairy products,” he said. “Mrs Mustard is a real celebration of the very best of British food – often using old-fashioned cuts of meat and cooking techniques alongside modern flavours and presentation.”
