The British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) has partnered with Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) to provide students with a range of BIIAB which will boost their employment credentials in the hospitality industry.

Undergraduates on four-year degree courses in hospitality and event management will have the certified qualifications embedded into their degree programmes, with the participating students having work experience in hospitality, increasing their employability.

“This is a ground-breaking initiative which will benefit both parties immensely as well as the many students who take part,” said the BII’s client development director John Melia.

“It will also have a knock-on effect for the industry as a whole as it will increase the pool of young talent out there who are qualified and have first-hand experience of  working in hospitality.”

MMU is the first university to offer the qualifications in tandem with an undergraduate degree and it is expected that other education institutions will follow suit.
