ASK Italian has opened a flagship restaurant at Kent shopping centre Bluewater, it's first under the company's new managing director Steve Holmes.

The opening of the 145-cover restaurant, situated on the Lower Thames Walk, follows a major revamp of Bluewater's dining areas and last year's rebrand of ASK Italian, which saw the Gondola-owned company focus more heavily on using seasonal Italian ingredients and work with chef Theo Randall to overhaul its menu.

ASK Italian had been approached by LendLease as the favoured restaurant chain to take the new site at Bluewater and due to it being in a high footfall area, Holmes said it was an offer too good to pass up for the group's flagship site.

“As Europe’s largest retail and leisure destination, Bluewater attracts over 28 million shoppers a year which makes it the perfect location for our new flagship restaurant," he said.

Holmes, who was promoted from operations director to managing director of ASK Italian two months ago, will be speaking to Restaurant for an exclusive interview which will be featured in the January edition of the magazine.
