Orient-Express Hotels, the operator of the hotel attached to Raymond Blanc's Michelin-star restaurant Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, has launched an invitation-only associate member programme which offers support to luxury hotels.

The programme, which could eventually include UK hotels, has already welcomed its first member - the Hôtel du Palais in Biarritz, France.

“In return for providing access to our highly valued international sales force and strategic marketing channels, this initiative enables us to curate new destinations for our guests to discover," said David Williams, chief marketing officer for Orient-Express.

Associate hotels will be required to meet a number of standards and criteria and 'share the vision' of the brand - in turn venues will receive sales, website marketing and PR support in 17 countries and distribution under the Orient-Express code.

Orient-Express Hotels was recently the subject of an unsolicited takeover bid launched by minor shareholder Indian Hotels.
