Pig farmer and Jimmy's Farm host Jimmy Doherty is to front a new BPEX campaign to promote Red Tractor pork at a critical time for the British pig industry.

As part of the 'Give A Fork About Your Pork' campaign, Doherty has presented three short videos to highlight the work of pig farmers and the importance of supporting Red Tractor pork which complies with food safety, animal welfare and environmental standards.

The farmer will also showcase a range of pork cuts and meal ideas which include supporting recipes for caterers such as pork belly with plums and cinnamon.

The campaign comes at a critical time for the pig industry with a global pork shortage, rising food prices linked to the cost of grain and new regulations on pig welfare which came into force on 1 January.

Speaking about the importance of the campaign, Doherty said: “Eating British pork is of the utmost importance if we want to retain our pig farming sector. Choosing Red Tractor is a fantastic way of doing just that."
