Meat and poultry supplier Gilbert’s Foods has launched two new stuffed lamb shoulder dishes for the foodservice sector in time for Mother’s Day and Easter menus.

Product details:

The lamb dishes come in two varieties; apricot & lemon and redcurrant & rosemary. Each includes a 400g slow-cooked individual portion of high-quality lamb, along with a herb and fruit stuffing and a gravy sauce.

The stuffed lamb shoulders arrive in a frozen format and can be cooked in the oven for 40 minutes. The portions arrive in a foil tray and are convenient for chefs to store in a freezer or cold store. Once cooked, chefs simply transfer the meat and its sauce onto a serving plate.

USP:

The dishes have a homemade appearance and chefs can experiment with presentation techniques and accompaniments such as roasted or sautéed potatoes and glazed root vegetables, as the sauce gives the dish a flavoursome gravy.

They can be used for menus in hotels, restaurants, pubs and bars, catered events and other foodservice outlets. Plus, the quality, taste and texture of each product is guaranteed for up to 12 months.

Why you should buy it:

Peter Smith, managing director at Gilbert’s Foods, said: “There are many under-used and under-valued cuts of meat that deserve more attention, as they can be cost-effective and versatile without compromising on taste.

“Our new stuffed lamb shoulders are a great example of this as they are a good value, tasty cut of meat and cooked properly with a good combination of quality herbs and ingredients provide a great menu option.

“Cost-effective cuts of meat such as this are seeing a surge in popularity in the foodservice sector as our customers recognise the benefits of offering quality yet economical dishes on the menu.

“We understand that chefs want foods that deliver on taste, quality and value for money, while diners are looking for authentic flavours and filling dishes that they know and love and our dishes meet all of these needs. By investing in our top quality meal centres, chefs can effectively recreate popular dishes in a matter of minutes to meet consumer demand for home-cooked style, tasty foods.

“Our Lamb Shoulders are specifically designed for the foodservice sector and make a great menu addition around Easter but is also a classic dish that can be enjoyed all year round. Our team of chefs has worked hard to ensure the dishes offer the ideal combination of flavours and quality, tender meat that diners will love and we can also offer bespoke varieties to meet specific requirements.

"The success of this product will drive the company forwards as we continue to expand the business and become a major player in the UK food industry.”
