Bocuse d'Or British Band
Support for the British team was high at the 2013 contest with the team's families, sponsors and lecturers and students from University College Birmingham among those flying out to Lyon to cheer Bennett and Curtis on. However, the loudest support came from The England Supporters Band.
Best known for following the England football team to international matches, the Sheffield-based brass band, which counts entertainer Bernie Clifton among its members, played a continuous string of tunes from the stands, including Rule Britannia, Walking in Winter Wonderland and The Great Escape, to keep the British team's spirits high.
In fact, the support from the band was so strong, that it only stopped playing when requested by the presenter of the closing ceremony to allow the French national anthem to be played.
