Kristian Curtis Best Commis
Kristian Curtis, Bennett's sous chef at Simpson's in Birmingham, was awarded one of the competition's special prizes - Best Commis - at the Bocuse d'Or 2013. The 22-year-old added the accolade to a growing list having been named the British Culinary Federation Young Chef of the Year in 2011 and becoming a graduate of the Craft Guild of Chefs in 2012.
Curtis will be too old to be a commis chef the next time the competition comes around, but he told BigHospitality enjoys competing and that he may put himself in the running to compete for the UK in the Bocuse d'Or in the near future.
