The budget hotel operator plans to refit 50 bedrooms every day for the next year and a half with new-look furniture, king size beds and brand new bathrooms.
The refurbishment is part of a £243m investment into the business that will also see it open another 12 hotels and create more than 400 jobs over the next year.
Travelodge chief executive Grant Hearn said: "This investment is a great leap forward in terms of our product offering, and it signals our intention to make Travelodge the smart choice for consumers as well as positioning us as the UK’s best value hotel chain.”
Work starts today at seven key city-centre hotels including Travelodge's flagship hotel at Covent Garden. All hotels being refurbished are expected to remain open while work is carried out with the refit also seeing a redesign of the hotel chain’s restaurants and public areas.
