Venice Bakery, an established USA-based manufacturer of 'free from' thin and crusty pizza bases, has launched its gluten-free product in the UK at IFE 2013 under the name Venice Bakery UK.

Product details:

The plain and Italian herb-seasoned pizza bases and flatbreads are all free from gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, corn and egg. They are suitable for both vegetarian and coeliac diners.

Venice Bakery UK said the products also contained no preservatives, colourings or trans fats and are created in a dedicated gluten-free factory in the USA making them trustworthy.

Both the pizza base and flatbread feature a good shelf life and can be kept for 21 days chilled, three months vacuum-packed or six months frozen.


Venice Bakery UK said the product remained flavourful and, despite being gluten-free, possess an elastic texture meaning they don't shatter like other products on the market.


The products are available as nine-inch flatbreads and nine, 10 or 12-inch pizza bases - all frozen with a six-month shelf life. Packs of three five-inch pizza bases, one twelve-inch pizza base or two nine-inch flatbreads are also available vacuum-packed with a two-month ambient shelf life.

As Venice Bakery UK has just launched this week, a UK distributor is not yet in place however there is likely to be soon. Businesses are being asked to tell their regular distributor to add the company to its list.

Price will differ on the size of the order, product and format.

Indicative prices below are for less than a palette of:

  • Nine-inch flatbreads bulk frozen: £1.25 per unit
  • 10-inch pizza bases bulk frozen: £1.44 per unit
