Run by the three Roca brothers, El Celler de Can Roca in Spain has replaced Noma atop the list of The World's 50 Best Restaurants
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2013 have been revealed and Spain’s El Celler de Can Roca has taken the top spot from Noma, meanwhile Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck has dropped 20 places in the list.

The awards, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, were announced tonight in a glittering ceremony held at London’s famous Guildhall.

Restaurants in France and the US dominated the top 50 - each country has six representatives on the list – but the growing gastronomic influence of countries in South America and Asia is clear with new entries from a number of nations including China and Peru.

However the top story from the night was undoubtedly the trio of Roca brothers knocking René Redzepi’s Noma off its long-held number one spot.

The same three UK restaurants which were present on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2012 were also the only British venues to make the top 50 this time around, however there was a change in positions. Dinner by Heston Blumenthal climbed two places to 7th, while its sister restaurant the Fat Duck dropped 20 places to number 33. Brett Graham’s the Ledbury climbed one place to 13th.

Posted by Aydin,

It is interesting to see that there are no Turkish restaurants or any located in Turkey. This is as I can see left to a bunch of judges that walk in certain circles and do not go beyond. I wonder if nay have even had good Turkish food and no thats not a Kebab.
Broden your horizons. It not all France, Spain, UK , US.

Posted by Toby Goddard,

I was fortunate enough to visit and dine at Le Tour D'argent, on the Isle D'Cite, underneath Notre Dame's Cathedral Towers, which was not only absolutely fabulous, but I believe one of the world's earliest Restaurants, established in 1105, the kitchen was fashioned entirely in stainless steel and copper, the food classic French - amazing!
