Firmdale's Carrie Wicks among Women 1st's Woman of the Year nominees

Women 1st, the organisation run by sector skills council People 1st, has revealed the shortlist for its annual set of awards which recognise and honour outstanding female and diversity achievement in the hospitality, passenger transport, travel and tourism industries.
Wicks has been nominated in the Woman of the Year category alongside four other nominees including Michele Moore, head of people development at Elior UK and Margot Slattery, Ireland and Northern Ireland managing director for Sodexo.
Sara Jayne Stanes, director of the Academy of Culinary Arts; Sarah Swaysland, marketing manager for Be At One and Emma Cooper, finance and marketing director for The Ambrette have also made the shortlist in a number of the other categories.
Debrah Dhugga, general manager of the Dukes St James London hotel, has been nominated in the Mentor of the Year category, while the venue has been named as one of the four Small Business of the Year nominees.
This year’s winners will be announced during a gala dinner in June following the second annual Women 1st Conference where 25 women will also be inducted into the Women 1st Top 100 Club.
