Corney & Barrow's Broadgate Circle bar is to close after 25 years in order to make way for a new retail space as part of the wider redevelopment of the Broadgate area.

The site will close its doors for the last time on 21 June as property developers British Land are planning to rebuild the Circle in order to create a space for multiple retail, restaurant and bar outlets.

Ed Gardner, Corney & Barrow's newly-appointed managing director, said the bar had 'broken the norm' when it first launched due to its late opening hours, innovative drinks range, modern interior and celebratory atmosphere. However Gardner said the company might yet return to the area.

“The Corney & Barrow site at Broadgate Circle is an iconic bar and it will be sorely missed," he said. "Many, many people have passed through its doors over 25 years and I’d like to thank them all - staff and customers alike - for their support. We look forward to beginning discussions with British Land later in the year regarding a new C&B venue in the development, which re-opens in early 2015."
