Hilton Worldwide has today unveiled plans to expand its value Hampton by Hilton brand with two new hotels in Birmingham and Gatwick Airport which will see the concept double its presence in the UK by 2015 to 23 properties.

In total, both hotels will receive more than £22m investment, helping to create around 55 jobs in the Gatwick and Birmingham areas.

The announcement follows swiftly after the opening of the company's 11th Hampton by Hilton hotel in Exeter and comes less than four years after Hilton Worldwide launched the value brand in the UK in 2009.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, Europe and Africa, Hilton Worldwide, said: "Hampton by Hilton’s continued UK growth is giving increasingly savvy consumers greater access to exceptional hotel experiences at highly competitive rates and in more locations.

"With these latest hotels in Gatwick and Birmingham now under development, the strong momentum behind Hampton by Hilton means we are on track to double the current UK portfolio by 2015."

Real hit

The Hampton by Hilton pipeline has been expanded today with both a city centre and airport location:

  • Hampton by Hilton Birmingham City North has been signed under a management agreement with Birmingham Regeneration LLP. When the newly-built 109-bedroom property opens this summer it will become the brand's second hotel in Birmingham.
  • Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick Airport, North Terminal will be directly connected to the airport's North Terminal by the hotel’s own dedicated covered walkway. The 192-bedroom venue is expected to open in early 2014 and will feature two meeting rooms. It will join the 821-bedroom Hilton London Gatwick Airport which is connected to the South Terminal.

Mark Nogal, regional head, focused service brand management, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), said: “Since introducing the brand to the UK in 2009, Hampton by Hilton has proved to be a real hit with guests, owners and developers alike.

"Our hotels are designed to cater to the busy modern travellers’ every need, providing affordable prices as well as quality accommodations with friendly service.”

The USA-based firm now operates nearly 1,900 properties worldwide under the various Hampton brands. Both new Hampton by Hilton hotels will feature free, high-speed Wi-Fi, daily hot breakfast, 24-hour snacks and 24-hour business and fitness centres.
