Manufactured in New Forest Ice Cream’s recently-completed factory in Lymington, the Zafran rosewater ice cream is the second in a range of Persian ice cream flavours the firm has created.
Made to an authentic Persian recipe, the ice cream offers caterers a 'smooth, fragrant and enticing stand-alone ice cream choice or dessert accompaniment'.
The company has said the product is a perfect accompaniment to dishes with spicy fruit ingredients or chocolate flavours.
Independent research carried out on behalf of the company has shown that consumers liked the rosewater ice cream's 'cleansing' properties and 'delicate taste'. Of the consumers surveyed, 65 per cent said they would be keen to eat it when dining out.
Zafran's ice cream products are available in four litre tubs which can be purchased directly from the company. Zafran is also in talks with regional and national wholesalers.
One four litre tub costs £24.
Why should you buy it?
Sepideh Shahlazadeh, owner of Zafran Food Company, said: "My aim is to launch a range of authentic Persian foods into the UK foodservice sector to fill a clear gap in the market following a growing demand for this food type.
"Our Rosewater ice cream is created from a traditional Persian ice cream recipe and is manufactured right here in the UK by a leading ice cream manufacturer.
The challenge for me was to be able to use such a powerful ingredient to produce an ice cream which such a delicate flavour – it’s a true palette cleanser. I have spent a considerable amount of time ensuring that the flavour and the texture are right and have conducted research to get some genuinely objective feedback from the market place."
