Arora Hotels founder and chief executive Surinder Arora has confirmed plans to open its eighth hotel at The O2 in London.

The 452-bedroom hotel featuring a 3000 sq metre ballroom, will be operated under the International Hotel Group’s Crowne Plaza brand and is scheduled to open in 2015.

Speaking to the audience at the second BHA Summit in London yesterday, Arora said: “We are due to start the project in the next couple of weeks. We are pleased to be working with IHG to operate under the Crowne Plaza brand.”

Arora Hotels owns and manages seven hotels, including Arora hotels in Crawley, Heathrow and Manchester and opened the first Sofitel in the UK under franchise at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 in 2008.

The development division of the company has also secured agreements to design and build four budget hotels at Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports.
