The National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) has doubled the Apprenticeship Grant for Employers (AGE) for hospitality businesses based in London.

Until the end of the year, London based employers will be able to receive an enhanced grant of £3k due to the London Enterprise Panel matching the existing £1,500 on offer.

At the start of the year the Government said it would extend the AGE grant for all UK businesses with up to 1,000 employees until March 2014.

Alex Khan, chief executive of Lifetime Training, said: Apprentices can form the bedrock of start-up businesses offering them extra support where they need it most and can be used to fill skills gaps. The enhanced grant is great news for London employers and young people. Thanks to the NAS, there’s no better time than now for businesses to take on their first apprentice and start reaping the benefits of enthusiastic and motivated learners.”

The AGE grant can be used for any apprentice aged between 16 and 24 and will be offered on a first come first served basis.
