The Cambridge Belfry, a QHotels venue, re-opens this week following a £150k refurb of the property
The Cambridge Belfry hotel re-opens this week following a £150k refurb funded by the property's owner QHotels in order to improve the venue's conference offer.

Although the renovation was completed earlier this month, the 120-bedroom hotel will officially re-open on 25 July with a newly-refurbished health club, restaurant and University Suite conference room.

Conference

The refurbishment is part of a wider, concerted effort on behalf of the Leeds-based company to makes its venues more attractive to business guests and conference bookers.

The hotel has significantly upgraded its 250-capacity conference and events room. The venue has traditionally been popular with conference bookers due to the property's accessible yet out-of-town location but the refurb means it can now be used for larger weddings, corporate conferences and banqueting events.

At the same time as completing the investment in the hotel, QHotels has made a number of appointments to the management team at The Cambridge Belfry. The hotel has taken on Chris Marais as operations manager and Andrzej Feszak as a new conference and events manager, as well as a new leisure & spa and HR manager.

“It is an incredibly exciting time here at The Cambridge Belfry," said Mike Evans, general manager of the Cambourne hotel.

"The hotel looks great and we have already had brilliant feedback from both overnight guests and local visitors.

"This investment has been made in response to customer feedback, as part of our commitment to complete guest satisfaction. It’s the perfect time to welcome our new team members, who are already having a great impact on the hotel’s performance.”

The award-winning hotel's bar and restaurant have also been given a new, modern look with an open-plan design as part of the refurb.

The lakeside bar area offers an expanded capacity meaning there are now 48 tables available to guests, meanwhile the restaurant's menu has been modified to make it more accessible to a wider range of guests - business visitors as well as families.

QHotels

QHotels, which owns and operates 21 venues across the UK, successfully secured a refinancing agreement for the business at the beginning of this year in order to fund the investment in the firm.

The owner of The Midland hotel in Manchester is celebrating after scooping more VenueVerdict accreditations for its conference and event facilities than at any time in the company's history - five of the 33 hotels which received the Gold Standard from BDRC Continental this quarter were QHotels properties.
