Tom Whitaker, head chef, White Hart
Pub group Young’s has announced the appointment of MasterChef 2011 finalist Tom Whitaker to the position of head chef at the recently relaunched White Hart in Barnes.
Whitaker is now heading up the kitchen team and creating the menu at the new destination-dining pub which opened on 9 October. He has created a monthly-changing menu and will be curing his own meat and fish in the new on-site smokery.
The chef brings with him experience from some of London’s best restaurants including Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley and Fergus Henderson’s St John, as well as his own private dining company. After running a series of successful pop-ups including Porklife and The Day Boat Cooperative, he accepted The White Hart position.
"The opportunity to be involved with this project was too good to pass up," he said. "I have always felt that pubs and the cuisine they can offer should be the heart of British dining. It’s great to be working with a truly British company such as Young's and I'm genuinely excited about what the White Hart can offer its customers."
