Richard Balfour-Lynn, the founder of MWB Group Holdings, the former owner of the Hotel du Vin and Malmaison chains, is looking to build an estate of pubs in London, according to BigHospitality's sister publication M&C Report.

At the start of October, the former chief executive of the De Vere Group re-opened the Bull in Devonshire Row. A restaurant on the site’s first floor, the Hide at the Bull is set to follow later this month.

It is understood that Balfour-Lynn is in advanced talks on a third pub in central London.

He opened his first pub the Fox & Anchor in Clerkenwell back in 2008.

Pub operations are being overseen by operations director Scott Malaugh, who was previously the landlord of the Fox & Anchor.

Balfour-Lynn resigned as chief executive of MWB Group Holdings last March. His resignation came just six months after he stepped down as the chief executive of the De Vere Group.

Chris Bickle at Davis Coffer Lyons acted for the vendor of the Bull.
