Stonegate Pub Company has acquired 78 pubs from the administrators of Bramwell Pub Company in a deal reportedly worth £35m.

According to our sister title M&C Report, the TDR Capital-backed group had been in talks to acquire some of Bramwell’s better-performing sites ever since the 185-strong managed pub operator fell into administration at the end of October.

Stonegate’s chief executive Toby Smith said: “We are delighted to have been able to secure a large number of fantastic sites, many of which are located in towns and cities where we are not currently represented and are looking forward to welcoming our new colleagues to the company.”

The deal takes Stonegate’s portfolio to 625 pubs across the UK. According to M&C Report, it is thought that six of the newly acquired sites are to be converted to the Slug & Lettuce brand, with the rest into converted in Great Traditional Pubs, Yates’s and Bars & Venues.
