Chris Quinn-Waugh, general manager, The Chester Hotel
The Chester Hotel in Aberdeen has appointed Chris Quinn-Waugh as general manager, as the hotel prepares for its much anticipated opening in early 2014.
Quinn-Waugh joins the team from Edinburgh’s Royal Terrace Hotel and has previously held general manager positions at the Macdonald Inchyra Grange and Houston House hotels. She is currently recruiting a core team of about 80 to 100 new staff members across all departments to complement the existing team.
“It’s a real privilege to be involved with a hotel at such an early stage”, she said. “The Chester Hotel will bring something very different to Aberdeen as we’re creating a truly luxurious, yet contemporary experience for our guests.
“Aberdeen is booming with strong demand for hotel accommodation throughout the week as well as on weekends. However, we are looking to do much more than simply adding more rooms – it’s about offering something a little bit special, a high quality service where our team is more than happy to go the extra mile for our guests.
“Choosing the right team, people with a real enthusiasm for hospitality, is the key to making the hotel successful. We’re hoping to recruit many of our team locally, but are looking further afield as well.”
Aimed at the five-star, luxury hotel market, The Chester Hotel is the latest venture of hoteliers Graham and Gillian Wood, who also own Edinburgh’s The Chester Residence. Once open, the new hotel will feature 59 Classic, Grand and Loft rooms and two suites, combining a feel of contemporary luxury with the original features of its 19th-century listed building.
