The long-awaited sister site to Barrafina Soho will open on Adelaide Street in April 2014. Barrafina stalwart Nieves Barragán Mohacho will be the executive head chef, with Jose Etura overseeing front of house.
“After five years of waiting we could not be more excited about heading to Covent Garden," said Eddie Hart. "It is a fantastic restaurant space, with fabulous wrap around windows, lots of natural light and high ceilings.
Sam Hart added: “Covent Garden is a great location, it’s vibrant, cosmopolitan and it means we get to take Barrafina to a brand new audience.”
The corner site will comprise a long, marble-top bar with 29 stools and an open kitchen. There will also be a lower ground floor space that can be booked for private dining and events.
The new restaurant's menu will be made up of classic and contemporary tapas, with the addition of some entirely new dishes. A charcoal-fired Josper grill will allow Mohacho to cook meat, fish and vegetables in a different way, adding new tastes and flavours to her repertoire.
