The café-deli chain has been assigned to create ‘two distinct food offerings’ that will appeal to the diverse range of customers coming through the doors of The Wellcome Café, opening this month, and an as-yet-unnamed restaurant which will open next June.
Wellcome Collection will be Benugo’s 14th concession within a museum or public space, following recent contracts with Great Court Restaurant at The British Museum (opening next month) and other notable sites such as the V&A Museum and Westminster Abbey.
The Wellcome Café will be overseen by head chef Jason Wass (joining from Pissaro Restaurant in Chiswick), who will serve up a simple selection of seasonally-led food from sandwiches, salads, wraps to freshly baked cakes and pastries.
The restaurant will feature a daily changing menu of seasonal rustic food from salads and fish dishes at lunch, to sharing plates for light afternoon snacks. It will also house an ‘Entrance Bar’, serving cofees, soft drinks and wines.
