New York-based entertainment venue Brooklyn Bowl is set to launch its first UK outpost at The O2 in London later this month.

Opening next Thursday (16 January), the 800-capacity concert venue will feature 12 lanes of bowling, a 120-cover restaurant and a large music area with space for 500 guests.

Brooklyn Bowl’s owner Peter Shapiro, who launched the original venue in 2009, said: “When thinking of another city that's as influential on global culture as New York, there's only one that immediately stands out and that, of course, is London.

“We're thrilled to be bringing the Bowl's unique and multi-pronged vibe to what really is the most important city in the world.”

The restaurant will be operated by the New York’s Blue Ribbon Restaurants Group, marking the first foray outside of the US for the Bromberg Bros-owned firm. Blue Ribbon will bring its signature menu to Brooklyn Bowl at The O2; including oyster po' bos, Cajun catfish, French bread pizzas, egg shooters, and its famous fried chicken.

The restaurant group’s co-owner, and a partner in Brooklyn Bowl, Bruce Bromberg, added: “The food we cook at the Bowl is all about great times and great tastes.  We were able to bring our entire menu from Brooklyn and find local suppliers to source the freshest ingredients.”

Three of the 12 bowling lanes are elevated in a private party area with its own bar, and a six-foot-wide disco ball has been installed above the lane area.

Grand opening

The original Brooklyn Bowl is located in New York’s Williamsburg district and has been named Zagat's Best Music Club for three consecutive years having played host to a diverse range of acts including Kanye West, Snoop Dogg and Guns’N’Roses.

This spring, Brooklyn Bowl will open a 2,000 capacity venue with 32 lanes and food by Blue Ribbon in the centre of the Las Vegas Strip.

The new O2 venue will celebrate its grand opening weekend with three nights of performances by the Brooklyn Bowl All-star Players - a collective of some of Brooklyn’s funk and soul musicians from Antibalas, Lettuce and Soulive.

Brooklyn Bowl – The O2 will open in Greenwich, London, on 16 January.
