Potato specialist Lamb Weston has launched a new Sweet Potato Fries range exclusively for the foodservice market.

Product details:

The new Sweet ‘n Savour fries are designed specifically with casual dining and quick-service restaurants in mind. They are made from ‘carefully grown and specially selected’ sweet potatoes which are then coated with a savoury seasoning to add a unique twist.

The fries are available in Crispy and Ribble variants, with the latter cut offering a greater surface area for the coating, enhancing the taste experience and increasing the crispness of the fry.

For optimum flavour and crispness, operators should deep fry in vegetable oil for 2 minutes, 45 seconds at 175 degrees. However, if you are looking for a healthier option, you can cook them in an oven for 12 minutes at 200 degrees, which will give them an even more intense flavour.

USP:

Lamb Weston was the first major brand to launch sweet potato fries in the European foodservice market back in 2004. The company says this new launch is ‘a clear demonstration of our commitment to maintaining an innovative leadership position in the category’.

The development of the Sweet ‘n Savour fries comes as a direct response to market research across Europe and the Middle East which found that 77 per cent of over 2800 consumers questioned enjoyed the ‘unique taste’ associated with sweet potatoes.

The price for the appetiser range and all the Lamb Weston products can differ depending on the size and type of order. Contact the company direct to find out your nearest supplier and for more price information

Why you should buy them:

Lamb Weston’s UK sales director Nigel Phillips said: “Our research highlighted that 80% of operators recognised the increased profit margins that Sweet ‘n Savour Fries could bring to a menu, with many seeing the opportunity to upsell from their current fries offering.

“At a time when customers want the familiar shape of fries but an exciting savoury taste, Sweet ‘n Savour Fries provide the perfect twist on a familiar favourite.”
