Andrew Page is stepping down as chief executive of The Restaurant Group later this year, but will remain as an advisor to the chairman and the board
Andrew Page, chief executive of The Restaurant Group (TRG), has announced plans to retire from his role in August.

Page, who took up the appointment 12 years ago, will, however, remain as advisor to the chairman and the board to help with an 'orderly handover and continuity' of the business.

Chairman Alan Jackson said: "Both the board and I personally would like to express our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to Andrew on the immense success he has achieved at TRG during his 12 year tenure. In that time the Company has come from having a market capitalisation of £75m to be valued now at over £1.2b. That would be some achievement even in a benign economy, let alone in the exceptionally challenging decade that we have endured."

Page said his role at the operator of Frankie & Bennys, Garfunkel's, Chiquito's and Coast to Coast had been the 'most fulfilling' of his career and credited its successful turnaround to the team he worked with. "They are an outstanding group of people and it has been my privilege to lead them," he said.

TRG will now look for a new chief executive with both internal and external candidates being considered.
