Butlins owner Bourne Leisure is to build a 206-bedroom resort-style hotel at Butlins Minehead to help improve its existing accommodation provision and further the resort’s appeal to corporate guests.

The £20m development will replace some of the existing accommodation at the Somerset-based resort and follows the successful launches of the Shoreline, Ocean and Wave hotels at its resort in Bognor Regis, West Sussex.

“The locale and sheer capacity of our Minehead resort lends itself perfectly to a host of corporate meetings, large events and teambuilding days,” said Simon Jones, national sales manager at Butlins Events. “The development of a new hotel onsite is just another addition to our extensive corporate offering, and will further enhance our year round MICE offering.”

Work is set to start on the hotel this year, but it has not yet been confirmed when the property will open for business or what facilities it will offer.

Butlins Minehead, which is located 60 miles from Bristol, currently offers accommodation in the form of apartments, bungalows and lodges.

As well as being family-friendly, the resort is well-known for its wide range of team-building activities, including zip wires, high ropes, sat nav treasure hunts and archery as well as the Land Rover safari and coasteering activities available off site, said Jones.
