Catering students Jonah Kellar, Giuseppe Finocchio and Viktorija Bernataviciute have just finished their first four-month work placements as part of the Electrolux Chef Academy, which they won in July.
Working with Michelin star chefs Tom Kitchin, Simon Hulstone and Jonray and Peter Sanchez-Iglesias, the three are spending four months each at The Kitchin in Edinburgh, The Elephant, in Torquay, and Bristol’s Casamia respectively.
The aim is to put the skills learnt at college into practice in a professional kitchen, while picking up expert tips along the way.
Vanessa Holloway, marketing manager for Electrolux, said: “Our three chef academy winners are doing phenomenally well.
“I feel incredibly proud of the way all three have approached their placements with dedication and enthusiasm, and have no doubt they will become valuable additions to the teams they are working with during the spring.”
In last year’s final, seven chefs were tasked with making and serving a three-course meal for a table of chefs and industry experts.
The competition was judged by Michelin star chef Nigel Haworth, Martin Bates of the Craft Guild of Chefs, and Electrolux Professional development chef Andy Blakemore.
