Barnyard, the second restaurant from Michelin-starred chef Ollie Dabbous and mixologist Oskar Kinberg, will open just a few minutes’ walk from their original site in Fitzrovia next month.   

Situated on the site of the former Curryleaf restaurant in Charlotte Street, the 50-cover restaurant will be a ‘relaxed and organic’ affair, serving wholesome comfort food within a ‘distressed farm’ setting. There will be no reservations or service charge at the restaurant.

It will overseen by head chef Joseph Woodland - who trained at The Square before moving to Launceston Place - and general manager Charlie Bolton – who worked alongside Kinberg at the bar underneath Dabbous before manage the bar at Burger and Lobster in Mayfair.

Kinberg, who co-owns Dabbous, said: “We wanted to do something fun and upbeat, and are delighted to assist Charlie and Joseph, who are both extremely talented and hard-working.

“It’s not another burger or chicken joint. Just home-cooking, done well and without all the washing-up.”

On the menu

Dishes will include the likes of homemade sausage rolls with piccalilli, and roast beef on toast with warm horseradish buttermilk; while apple and cloudberry crumble with clotted cream, and Bananas & custard will feature among the desserts.

The drinks menu will also be a key part of the Barnyard offering, with hedgerow shandy (sloe gin, cider, pink grapefruit & tonic); boilermakers; homemade lemonade and milkshakes all served virgin or alcoholic.

As the name suggests, Barnyad’s design will have an agricultural focus, with a farm-style interior featuring reclaimed timber and corrugated tin. In keeping with this style, the restaurant’s playlist will be predominantly indie folk, country and blues.

Last year our sister title M&C Report reported that Dabbous had trademarked the name Barnyard​ earlier in the year and that the chef was initially considering premises at Somerset House on The Strand.

Dabbous, who started out at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons and worked at Hibiscus, Texture and Mugaritz in Spain, opened his eponymous restaurant in Whitfield Street to rave reviews​ in January 2012, with the 36-cover venue achieving a Michelin star within just eight months.

Ollie Dabbous and Oskar Kinberg will open Barnyard restaurant in Charlotte Street, London, in March.
