Ricki Weston of South Lodge Hotel in Horsham has been crowned the winner of the prestigious 2014 Chaîne des Rôtisseurs’ Young Chef of the Year competition.

A glittering awards ceremony held at the Dorchester Hotel in London also saw Tanguy Martin of Hotel TerraVina take home the coveted Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Young Sommelier of the Year title.

For the Young Chef of the Year award, Weston battled it out against two top contenders - Deepak Mallya, on assignment at the Ritz; and Joe Gould of the Lainston House Hotel, in the Grand Finals earlier in March.

Daniel Galmiche of The Vineyard at Stockcross and Chairman of Judges celebrated the finalists’ efforts by saying:

“All three finalists demonstrated an incredibly high level of skill, passion and creativity as well as a real understanding of flavour profiles.  Ricki’s menu was exceptional and we congratulate him on his achievement.

For the Sommelier of the Year award, Martin will now have a tough act to follow in the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs International Finals, which take place in Copehagen this September, after last year’s UK Young Sommelier of the Year winner, Loic Avrill went on to become international champion.
