The Jacques Borel VAT Club is encouraging restaurant, bar, pub and hotel operators to lobby their local MPs over a VAT reduction in the sector by producing a letter template for their use.

This letter is available for download on the Jacques Borel website, and the club stated they produced it after receiving a number of enquiries from operators on how to structure their local lobbying.

Borel said:  “It is clear that operators want to undertake their own local lobbying so the letter is aimed at guiding them on the issues that should be drawn to the attention of their local MP.”

The letter requests a cut in VAT from 20 per cent to 5 percent for restaurants, pubs, bars and hotels and goes into details about Tax Parity Day on 24 September this year when outlets will join together to support the campaign to lower VAT for UK hospitality services.

The Jacques Borel VAT Club has also produced a QR Code which operators can use to download the letter easily.
