The campaign involves all sectors in the hospitality industry and aims to raise funds to help its most vulnerable members.
A number of industry establishments have already signed up to take part, including all UK Red Carnation Hotels, Bunzl Catering Supplies, Malmaison Liverpool and Manchester, a number of Living Ventures restaurants and Radisson Blu Edwardian Manchester. Several catering colleges have also joined the movement.
Hospitality Action can provide a fundraising pack with ideas and suggestions for activities, which could include race nights, cake sales, garden tours or massages.
Penny Moore, chief executive of Hospitality Action, said: “With hospitality being the fourth-largest employer in the UK, with 3m workers, there is massive potential for us to help our colleagues in need.”
In 2013 Hospitality Action spent £508,000 to support past and present hospitality workers in need, with the support of 1,696 people. About 77 per cent of those who helped were under 60 – up 18 per cent from 2012.
