Pierre White protege takes high-profile chef's former restaurant

Chef Laurence Glayzer and restaurateur Richard Weiss, who has worked under Marco Pierre White, have secured the site of a London restaurant formerly run by the high-profile chef and jockey Franki Detorri.

They have taken the Sydney Street Grill site on Fulham Road in South Kensington in a deal handled by Cedar Dean Leisure.

Glayzer and Weiss worked together at Brasserie St Jacques on St James’s St for four years. Weiss, who has a background as a sommelier, worked under Pierre White at The Restaurant when they achieved a three star Michelin rating.

Glayzer trained at the Ritz and the Savoy after running his own restaurant in France for 10 years.

Their restaurant will focus on value for money and trolley service with a speciality in steak tartar and crepes Suzette prepared in front of diners. They are looking to have an extensive wine list of in the region of around 170 different kinds.
