Six new chefs have joined the Slow Food UK Chef Alliance in time for this year’s Slow Food Week (1 to 8 June) which attempts to connect the public with where their food comes from.

The six chefs are head chef of Northcote Manor Lisa Allen, chef patron of Northcote Manor Nigel Haworth, Chapter One’s Ross Lewis, The Old Boat House’s Richard Sim, chef and caterer Paula McIntyre and celebrity chef Darina Allen.

The Slow Food UK Chef Alliance has been around for nearly three years and has 112 chef members supporting its aims to encourage choosing produce from sustainable, local sources. Slow Food UK also runs programmes such as Forgotten Foods, which lists 79 UK products that could soon disappear from our shelves.

Chef at Corrigan’s Mayfair Richard Corrigan, who has been involved with the alliance since its creation, said: “I am delighted to welcomeLisa, Nigel, Ross, Richard, Paul and Darina to the Slow Food UK Chef Alliance. I’m incredibly thankful to them and all of the other brilliant and talented chefs that have joined the Slow Food cause to champion small producers and British produce.

“Many of them will be getting involved throughout Slow Food Week with special Forgotten Foods menus and events, it’s definitely going to be the biggest and best Slow Food Week yet.”
