Top 10 spenders when visiting the UK
The top ten inbound markets for 2013 accounted for one in three visits (66 per cent), and 52 per cent of all spending. The top three markets which have shown the highest growth in value on average over the last five years are all long haul to the UK, namely China, the US and Australia. The value of both the China and US markets has grown on average by around £94m per year between 2009 and 2013.
Unsurprisingly, many European countries make the top ten, but long-haul countries such as the US, Australia and Canada tend to spend more, accounting for over 20 per cent of all spending between them.
